DIY: Gel Manicure At Home - Featuring Madam Glam, New York*

I love having freshly painted nails, however, I am the laziest human being when it comes to the upkeep. I'm the person that walks around with chipped nails until I manage to pick it all off. However, I have had gel nails a couple of times in the past and found that this worked a lot better for me. Mainly, because it stays on longer and takes a lot more to chip them. Unfortunately, my laziness often means I can't be bothered to go to a nail salon to get them done (damn my continuous lack of energy).

Highlights of 2016

Source: www.makeupsavvy.com

I have already reflected on the year with my previous post 'what 2016 has taught me', however, due to the nature of that post, it had a little negative energy in it. As I have no patience for negativity, I thought I'd follow it up with a highlights of the year. This post contains specific days, trips and moments as well as general positives from the year! Leave your highlights in the comment section so I can have a read of yours too :)

Mac Red Lipstick Swatches/Reviews: Russian Red, Ruby Woo & Lady Danger

Left to right: Russian Red, Ruby Woo & Lady Danger

'Tis the season for red lips and MAC are definitely known for their staple red shades. But lets face it, people can rock red whenever the heck they want to. I mean, I don't think I've seen a picture of Gwen Stefani without it... and she is beautiful (plus hella cool). Below, I have put together mini-reviews for Russian Red, Ruby Woo and Lady Danger.

Winter Skincare Essentials

I switch up my skincare quite often. I'm yet to find a strict routine that works well for me, however, I have a few 'staple' items that I tend to stick to. So, as it's getting pretty darn cold outside, I thought I would write a post on my Winter skin care essentials.

What 2016 Has Taught Me

It may be a bit of a cliche, but I think when it gets to this time of year, lots of people sit and reflect on the past 12 months. Well, I do at least. I don't do the whole 'new year, new me' thing. I personally think that if you want to 'change' something or try something new, you can do that whenever the heck you want. However, I do try and hope that, in a year's time, I will have accomplished a few things. I will write a post on that in the new year. However, for now, I am reflecting on the past year and what (if anything) I learnt from it.

Sanctuary Spa Beauty Advent Calendar - Week One

I love all the different beauty/skincare advent calendars that are available, unfortunately, I could not buy all of them. I've seen a few posts showing what people have got so far, which I think is really useful for choosing one next year (yes, I like to plan such important things ahead of time) and just for being nosy. A delightful human being bought me a Sanctuary Spa calendar from Boots, after I continuously moaned that I didn't have one this year. I thought it would make sense to do it in chunks, so this is the first 7 days.

Blogging tips: How to increase the quality of your writing

I read a lot of blogs... And yes, I am more likely to read one if the images are on point. However, I will only continue to read them on a regular basis if the writing is also of a good level (combined with some form of humour/personality). I don't mean that I expect everyone to have a degree in literature just for me to read their blog, but I think just keeping track of typo's or grammatical mistakes can make a big difference. I still make the odd mistakes, but I've put together a list of software that help me monitor my writing and that others may find useful!

Body Bible by Clean Eating Alice: Review

Today I bring yet another healthy eating book review.
This book is called The Body Bible and is written by the ridiculously pretty, Alice Liveing (AKA Instagram fitspo girl previously known as 'Clean Eating Alice'). I've followed Alice on Instagram for a while now, she always posts her meals which look so good. I had clearly not been paying attention as I didn't know she even had a book out. I was just wondering around the book section in Tesco and recognised her on the cover of a book. After having a flick through I decided to purchase it (it was on sale!).

This book is a mixture of healthy eating and fitness. My last book review which was about Eat Pretty (find it here) which is another 'health' book, but focused heavily on the food and nutrition side. The two books are very different which is why I decided to go ahead and purchase this one as well.

University Survival: A Freshers Guide

My Facebook is littered with friends who were a year behind me and have just graduated. It's so great seeing all their photos and how their hard work paid off. I loved University but I did have a pretty unfortunate event that happened only 2 weeks in (understatement of the century) and it completely changed mine and my family's life, so I wouldn't say it was the easiest time for me.  However, none the less, University is so much fun! It's not easy and it's not going to be anything like you expected it to be but I don't regret going at all! I remembered googling and researching everything I could on University before I went. I'm a typical 'I need to know everything about this situation before I embark on it' kind of person. So, I thought I'd write a post that I may had found useful back then. This is purely based on my experience as well as some of the people around me.
