Review: Zoeva, Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette

I bought this palette a while ago, and then kind of forgot about it. I have a habit of using the same couple of palettes and neglect the rest. I thought I would have a play around with this palette as the colours are beautiful and very Autumnal and write my thoughts on it.

What do I think?

In regards to the packaging, I'm not a huge fan of cardboard. I do a lot of travelling for work and have found that all my cardboard packaged makeup becomes very damaged and worn very quickly. The gold and brown colouring of the packaging is very pretty though and the magnet seems to be quite strong.
The colours in this palette are beautiful and definitely autumn/winter appropriate. They are quite obviously inspired by warm, chocolate tones. There are some cranberry/pink tones as well as warm golden/brown tones. There is a mixture of matte, satin, duo chrome, pearlescent and glitter shades. When I first swatched these, I was really unimpressed. I could get barely any colour pay off and was not happy at all. However, after a couple of more tries, the shadows seemed to warm up and loosen, resulting in a much better colour pay off. The pigmentation seems to last quite a while for the majority of the colours (not so great with 'Bitter Start' and 'Sweeter End).
My favourite shades are definitely 'Pure Ganache' to 'Subtle Blend', I'm a sucker for shimmery golds and warm browns. 'Substitute for Love' and 'Freshly Toasted' are great matte options, especially for the crease.
I wouldn't say this is my favourite palette in my collection, but I can definitely see myself using it within these colder months. For the price, I'd say it's pretty good, however, I do own Morphe Palettes which cost not much more, have more colour options and produce a similar pigmentation.

Overall, the colour options are great and season appropriate. The pigmentation is good after the eyeshadows have been used a couple of times (but that is pretty common), and the price point is not too high. I'm not a massive fan of the packaging and probably wouldn't use the pinkier shades but I'd say it's worth checking out as an Autumn Palette.

The palette is currently £18 from Beauty Bay, find it here

Have you tried it? What are your thoughts?

  1. I have this palette and absolutely love it. So much so that I also bought the Zoeva Nude Spectrum palette...and use both with the beautiful Zoeva Rose Gold brushes.

  3. I really love the colours in this palette - personally I rate Zoeva's formula way more than Morphe's but each to their own preferences! They're bringing out 2 new versions of this palette it seems so I definitely think I'll be after those too...

    1. I have read really good reviews of it, so I'm not sure if I have just received a dodgy one. Or whether it'll get better after a couple uses, I really struggled to get swatches that showed the colour! Weird! x
