DIY: Gel Manicure At Home - Featuring Madam Glam, New York*

I love having freshly painted nails, however, I am the laziest human being when it comes to the upkeep. I'm the person that walks around with chipped nails until I manage to pick it all off. However, I have had gel nails a couple of times in the past and found that this worked a lot better for me. Mainly, because it stays on longer and takes a lot more to chip them. Unfortunately, my laziness often means I can't be bothered to go to a nail salon to get them done (damn my continuous lack of energy).

The guys over at Madam Glam, New York contacted me just before Christmas and asked if I wanted to try out their Gel Nail Polishes. I was particularly interested in their brand as it is cruelty free, which is always a win in my book. I received 3 coloured polishes, a base coat and a top coat, as well as a travel sized UV lamp.

I received 2 soak-off gels, one in the colour 'Love Me Nude' and the other in 'Grazie Millie'. I was also sent a Chameleon Gel Polish in Amaretto, these polishes are awesome as they are techincally two colours in one (depending on the temperature!). As I didn't have any base or top coats, they also provided me with these. The little lamp they sent is so cute. It is small enough to travel with and the charger is USB, therefore I didn't need to purchase an American to English adapter.

So, how did I do a gel manicure at home? I prepared my nails by pushing back the cuticles and shaping them with a nail file. In theory you should buff your nails and probably prepare them further, but again, I don't have the patience for this.

You then need to cleanse your nails so they aren't sticky anymore and you are good to go!

I'd really recommend this brand if you are after Gel Nails at home. They have loads of colours, the team there are really kind and the products are cruelty free. It's also pretty awesome that they have varnishes that change colour depending on the weather. This is definitely going to be the next one I try.

Are you a fan of gel nails? Do you go to salons or prefer to DIY?

If you prefer to DIY, then I have a previous post on going brunette to blonde at home.

  1. I love gel nails so I will definitely be looking into this brand, and love the colour on your nails. Beautiful, I have only recently begun adding a top coat when I do my nails (I am just soo lazy) and have noticed such a huge difference in how long my nails stay chip-free and perfect. Thank you for sharing, hope you had a great Christmas xxx

  4. I'm also quite lazy when it comes to maintaining my painted nails! I've heard some fab things about gel nail polishes, I've tried a couple myself and they were pretty good. Never heard of this brand before, though, but it seems pretty awesome! I like the shade range. Thank you for sharing, darling. <3 xoxo
