Left to right: Russian Red, Ruby Woo & Lady Danger
Tis the season for red lips and MAC are definitely known for their staple red shades. But lets face it, people can rock red whenever the heck they want to. I mean, I don't think I've seen a picture of Gwen Stefani without it... and she is beautiful (plus hella cool). Below, I have put together mini-reviews for Russian Red, Ruby Woo and Lady Danger.
Russian Red is a true red, with blue undertones (great for making teeth look whiter!). It is a matte lipstick, but still feels creamy to apply. This is probably my
favourite shade of red out of my collection. If you're after that 'pin-up' colour, then I'd definitely recommend this bad boy. I really don't have anything bad to say about it!
Ruby Woo is a blue-toned red which is great for brightening your complexion. It is also incredibly pigmented.
Colour wise, it is incredibly similar to Russian Red, maybe a pinch lighter (very, very slightly). However, this lipstick is a 'retro matte' therefore, I'd bear in mind that due to the formula and pigmentation you need to take time and care when applying, as it can be a little tricky. It may be beneficial to try applying it with a brush as it can have a tendency to pull the lip with it. It's a medium-dark red, rather than a pillar box red, but it's definitely bright and makes a statement.
Lady Danger is a matte, coral/orange toned red, this means it is great for those with warm toned skin. It is the brightest shade out of the three and definitely stands out. This lipstick is easier to apply than the previous two shades and has great staying power. If you are unsure whether you like reds or feel comfortable enough to go bright, this shade probably isn't for you. But hey, it's Christmas, why not go bold?!
