Favourites of 2016

I tried to narrow down my favourites from 2016, I didn't really do that well, so this might be quite a long post. Saying this, a lot of items were stand out favourites for me so, it didn't feel right to leave them out just to shorten the post! So, grab a cuppa tea and continue on to find out what my 'go to' items for 2016 were!

I have repurchased this foundation a couple of times during 2016 and I love the finish. I didn't think I would like a stick foundation, but I'm actually a massive fan of it. It's great for travelling and throwing in your bag if you need to touch up. It looks great in photos and doesn't cause a flashback as it was made for photography!

This is the foundation I reached for the most over the year. It has a dewy finish and is buildable if you want a full coverage. However, it's not the cheapest foundation out there sadly. I find that I don't get a flash back with this product either. I purchased this afer Jaclyn Hill raved about it and I do not regret it!

I love the normal Naked Concealars from Urban Decay, however, I ran out and my shade has been out of stock for ages, so I can't take a photo of it for you :( However, I also really liked the pink correction version, it really brightens under the eye. It doesn't completely get rid of the dark under eye circles, but it definitely makes the area more luminous. I do really want to try the Tarte concealer next though as I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I bloody love this stuff. I bought this after seeing a lot of good reviews online. I love the consistency of the product as well as the applicator. I know some people aren't a massive fan of the sponge applicator but I personally really like it. It's easy to throw in your bag for touch ups during the day, which is always a plus for me.

This is the only glue I use to apply false eyelashes. I never have any issues with the lashes coming off at the corner with this glue. However, as with most glues, it stinks. I use the clear-white version but it is also available in black.

This is the only eyebrow gel I have used, so I don't feel like I have much to compare it to. I use the blonde colour, however, if I repurchase I will more than likely buy the clear version. It does help to hold the brows in place and seems to distribute over the hairs evenly. I am a big fan of this, but if you know of ones that are any better, then definitely let me know below!

This lip liner is super cheap and I really like the colour. It's quite a pale nude, which is good for me as my lips aren't very pigmented. I have a few mac lip liners but still find myself leaning for this one. It's lasted ages and I'm definitely a fan. It's a different consistency to mac liners, it's not as soft so you do need to go a little heavier with it, but due to it being such a light colour, this isn't an issue for me.

This is definitely the eyebrow product I have reached for the most this year. I use the 'blonde' colour, but have also used the 'chocolate' shade when I was brunette. It took me a while to get used to it but, I'm definitely a fan. I don't like super bold brows on me, so I find I do need to go quite light handed with this product. Although it might not be as cheap as a drugstore, pencil, it lasts so long that you definitely get your money's worth!

I feel this is a bit cheeky to include as it's more of a life long favourite... but I adore this nude. I love the finish and the colour is super pale (which is good for me as I am very pale). I've repurchased this so many times now and it's always a top lippy of mine (closely followed by Japanese Maple).

I had this eyeliner for ages without actually using it. I purchased it after seeing it online and then forgot about it. I'd always used cheaper brands for eyeliner, as they worked well for me (love Rimmel), but after using this, I see why it is talked about so much. I love the applicator (pen style), and it's lasted me a really long time! So yeah, if you're after a decent, black eyeliner, this one is worth a try :)

I do not remember why I purchased this product. I think I was just trolling the internet and came across this gloss. I am not a massive gloss fan, but I wanted a nude one to throw over lipsticks. This lipgloss is super pigmented, it really does not need a lipstick underneath it. Granted, this wasn't what I was aiming for, but I do really like this lipgloss. It's quite a thick consistency, so if you like a gloss that you can't really feel, I would avoid this one! However, if you like an intense gloss that has a lot of colour (especially super pale), then you should like this one!

The Morphe M439 is an awesome foundation brush. It is synthetic and domed shaped which is 100% my favourite foundation brush. The rose gold brush set from Morphe is also awesome, their brand of brushes are the ones I reached for during 2016.

I tried using the ABH brow pomade without this brush, and quickly gave up. I love it and definitely couldn't do my brows without it. I know there are lots of other ones out there though and am open to trying some other brands, but this was the one that gave me brows during 2016!

Holy shitballs, this highlighting palette is intense. If you're after a subtle look, then maybe don't bother with this. But if you're like me and like to blind people with your highlight, then look no further. It's a great product and pretty affordable!

When I want to freshen up my face after a shave, this is the one I go to. Only kidding folks. If you are interested in makeup, then you will know that most people went out and purchased this after NikkiTutorials used it as a primer. I have used the almost every time I have worn makeup since purchasing it half way through 2016. It's affordable and works just as well as most other primers in my opinion!

Kiko, Outdoor Bronzer Beauty Games:

I bought this bronzer having heard nothing about it. Kiko had a massive sale on and I got a little carried away. So glad I picked this up though, I love the colour and it's massive. It also smells like hot chocolate which is a bonus. However, I tried to find a link for you guys because it's definitely a stand out product for me, and apparently they no longer sell it (not that I can find). So now I'm super depressed. Thanks Kiko.

Morphe, The Little Palette, Copper Popper:

I purchased this after seeing Jaclyn Hill mention it on her snapchat. The colours are right up my street. I love warmtones so fell in love as soon as I saw it. The pigment is awesome and I love every colour. It's a tiny palette so is super easy to travel with, which is why mine looks a little battered. So, I do wish it was plastic like the other palettes, but other than that, it is definitely a win. Sadly, this was limited edition (as far as I am aware)!

I love this so much. I have used it for years and it lasts me ages. I use it as a contour shade as it's perfect for my skintone, I also love the brush that comes with it (which is rare for me). I won't bother blabbering on about this one too much as everyone and their mother has heard of it. But it has a special place in my heart, and always will. JS <3 HB.

Would it really be a 2016 favourites without this product? Now, don't get me wrong, I am a massive fan girl of Jaclyn Hill. However, if I didn't like this product, I wouldn't use it. I bloody adore this highlighter. The colour and texture is perfect for me, especially if I have a bit of a tan. Although, it should be noted that my version of tanned is still, incredibly pale.

I forgot to include this in the picture, which I am super annoyed about. But it has happened now, lets all move past it. This make up setting spray is awesome. I always used MAC fix+, but since purchasing this, I haven't touched my MAC spray. I love spritzing this product all over my face to banish the powdery texture, which I loath. PS, at the time of writing this post, the link above is cheaper than if you get it directly from Urban Decays website, just FYI ;)

  1. I literally LOVE Duo adhesive but do you have an issue with getting out the tube? When I squeeze it a tiny bit literally a huge blob comes out every single time and I get covered in the stuff! It's so annoying!
