January Favourites | 2017

The first favourites of the year is upon us. I really didn't know if I would have anything to talk about this month as I have not long done the best of beauty for 2016. Turns out I was wrong... I have yet more products (etc.) that I have fallen in love with over the past month.

I've heard a lot of good things about this product and had been wanting to try it for ages because of pink scarring from spots and uneven skin tone. I had put off purchasing because it is expensive but did plan on saving up for it. Luckily, I have a wonderful friend (Chloe from ChloeHarriets), who surprised me with a gift set which included this product. I have been using it for a little over a week and have noticed that my skins redness has definitely been reduced. My skin is not magically clear, but I use this before my moisturiser at night, and have noticed a positive difference. I really think that it will help even my skin tone if I continue to use this product.

This is a really pale, nude gloss. I've been preferring gloss to lipsticks recently and this one has definitely been my go to. It smells of mint and feels really refreshing on the lips. This gloss is quite pigmented, so will work best for those with pale skin. If I have put fake tan on, I would probably avoid this gloss as it would make me look 'dead', however, with my natural skin colour, it works great as a quick neutral coloured gloss.

This palette comes with a banana powder and a contour shade. I've never been a massive fan of banana powders, I feel like they don't necessary work that well with my skin tone. However, the contour shade in this palette is awesome. I've been using this more than my Benefit Bronzer this past month, which is a big deal as I love hula. The palette itself is also massive and comes with a large mirror, which I also love.

I am so delayed with having this palette, but it took a million years for it to be in stock and accessible in England (a little dramatic, but still). It's not the cheapest palette out there, but it is so good. It's super pigmented and you need only the tiniest amount of product. Even though this palette was £41, it is bound to last a long time due to the level of pigmentation in the shadows. For a detailed breakdown of this product, read my previous post on the modern renaissance palette review.

Leanne Grace - Face and Body Polish:

I found this product through Jaclyn Hill. This is an exfoliator for your face and body. All the ingredients are natural/organic and some of the profits go to help women and children. The scrub itself smells so nice and there is a lot of product in the pot. I use this on my face and you only need the tiniest amount so it will last ages. This is an American brand so I did have to pay customs fees which is annoying! But for you US lot, this will be a lot easier for you to access.

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser:

This moisturiser makes skincare a shorter and easier process, therefore I am a massive fan of it. You just slather it on when you are in the shower and it sinks into your skin. This means no standing around naked after your shower waiting for your moisturiser to dry. It's pretty cheap at £3 and would definitely recommend it.

Netflix:

This sounds daft, because I've had access to Netflix for ages. However, my internet was shockingly bad. This meant that most of the time it wouldn't open, and the odd time it would, it would continuously pause and buffer. I finally called the provider and they sent me a new box, which has solved all my connection issues. Kind of wish I hadn't waited 6 months to do so now... Anyway, I now can watch Netflix as much as humanly possible. I wanted to start a new, easy to watch series and saw Brooklyn Nine Nine on there. I'd watched a few episodes before, but never in order. I decided to watch it from the first episode and became completely addicted (I was ill... 23 episodes were watched in 2 days - no shame here). I'm now on season 3 (four isn't on there yet - waaahh), and it's just good old, easy viewing, funny TV. If you like shows like Big Bang etc, then I'd really recommend this show. Plus, Terry Crews is in it, and he is awesome.

Nights in:

I have barely gone out 'partying' this month, in fact, I think I have only gone out once. Don't get me wrong, I love a good blow out once in a while. But, I have come to the conclusion that I am old and would rather stay in my PJ's and get a take away with the girls. The other night me Gina and Chloe drove to our friend Sam's pub, grabbed some food and played Jenga for about 3 hours. As I type this, I realise how lame it sounds, but it was honestly so fun. Plus, Jenga is intense. I'd not concentrated that hard before, ever! I was a complete party girl in University, drank a lot and was a bit of a 'tit' at times. Don't get me wrong, I loved University, it was so fun, but I'm definitely enjoying being a little calmer these days. Although, I'm going on a stag do next weekend and have Steph down the weekend after... so this will be going out the window for a short period of time, ha!
