KKW x Kylie Cosmetics Nude Lipsticks Review

I am a sucker for nude lip products. However, I am super pale so finding the 'right nude' for me is difficult. When I saw these shades I jumped at the chance to try them. I had birthday money left over so decided it was worth the splurge (due to customs charges).

I purchased these on the first release... it was very intense! I never buy things on when they have huge releases like this, mainly due to not being bothered. I managed to get them straight away, which surprised me and the delivery arrived a few days ago. I know a lot of people have complained about the pace of delivery, but I was pretty impressed with how quick it arrived for an international order.

The packaging is so pretty. I will admit, I am a sucker for packaging. However, I feel if you pay quite a bit for a product, you don't want it to arrive in a shitty little box that looks like it is going to fall apart. You get the 4 lipsticks within a sturdy, nude coloured box; along with a note card from Kim.

So, the lippies themselves...

Formula/Wearability:

If you were after a liquid lipstick, then you probably will not like the formula of these. I like how long liquid lipsticks last in theory, but I prefer a lipstick. You don't get that awkward line on the inside of your mouth and they are usually a lot less drying.  I'd say the formula of these remind me of a creme sheen lipstick from MAC.

When applying these, I did find I had to do 2-3 layers before I felt the coverage was even. I also had to re-apply throughout the day, but that doesn't really bother me. If you love the colour and feel of these, but want to make it more long wearing, you could throw it over the top of a nude liquid lipstick of your choice. That definitely helps with keeping the product on your lips a little longer.

Colours:

Kim named the 4 lipsticks after herself. Which, people have slated her for. I personally think it's funny and don't see why it's a big deal at all... The 4 colours do look very similar in the tubes, but the seeing them swatches next to each other, you can see the difference.

The four KKW swatches you get can be seen below:

Left to right: Kimmie, Kim, Kiki, Kimberly.

Kimmie:
Described as a 'deep nude' -
This is the shade I will probably not reach for very often. Not because it is a horrible colour, but just because I am very pale so this is a little too 'dark' for me in regards to nude. I get scared by any form of colour on my lips, so this isn't the shade for me. However, this may be more suited for those with a darker complexion or people who like a darker nude.

Kim:
Described as 'peachy nude' -
I really like this shade. It is a light nude with peach undertones. I think this would like great with a bit of a tan and some peach blush. But I feel this one look great on most complexions really!

Kiki:
Described as 'pinky nude' -
This is very similar to 'Kim' in shade, however, this one has pink undertones rather than peach. Again, it is a pale nude!

Kimberly:
Described as 'true nude' -
This shade is definitely the one I have used the most. It really is a 'true nude' and work's well with my skin tone. It is the least 'pink coloured' shade out of them all, which is why I think I favour it the most.

Overall, I do really like these lipsticks and I didn't think they were priced too high when you consider there are 4 products. There are certain shades that I prefer, so hopefully they will release these individually in order to re-purchase! Although saying this, the shade I reach for may differ depending on whether I am wearing tan or not!

As I said, if you are after a liquid lipstick or a 'matte' long wearing finish, these are not for you. However, if you like your glosses or creamy lipsticks, then I would recommend giving these a go!

  6. Great review! I wanted to get this but didn't think it would work for dark complexions. These shades look really pretty on your skin tone and I think the KKW collection has the best packaging :)
